I have worked with quite a bit of PHP, and no nothing about RoR and i must admit these commercials are quite effective. I’ll be looking into RoR some more

I think he meant side by side with HTML, not actually in it.
Anyway I don’t like PHP, but I have to agree it does the job (well, mostly) if used properly.

The best notice here is that PHP should be compared to Ruby, not ROR, ’cause ROR is framework.
In this video it would’ve been better to compare PHP Zend framework to ROR – that would be really good one since Zend seem to suck very very hard.

Of course you could compare Ruby to PHP, but that wouldn’t make a difference cause PHP really doesn’t have pretty syntax and isn’t as functional as Ruby’s fully OO syntax.

You know what I like about PHP? It’s how we always have to guess what comes first when calling a function, is it the “Needle” or the “Haystack”?

comparing a framework with a language? misleading and childish. compare a major PHP framework (Symfony, Zend etc.) with Ruby (not ROR!!) and see how well it’ll do!
